Ascending

Today I climbed my tree. The red maple in my parents' front yard is an old friend. I used to spend hours (or at least half-hours) sitting in 'my seat' reading and just watching people go by. No one ever looks up into trees and sees you. At first my tree seemed like a stranger, some of the branches are missing, some are new, the bark is darker and coarser than the last time. And it was a bit scary. Once I was level with the power lines I almost stopped going up. I used to climb until the vees between the branches were too small to hold my feet and the top of the tree started to bend. I didn't get quite that high tonight, but I did go higher after the first hesitation. I'd forgotten how comforting sitting in a tree watching people go by can be. I'm sorry I didn't visit you sooner old tree. I'll be back soon.

Wheee!

Just booked my flight for a nice little summer visit with Char in Hawaii! Yay for the ocean, oh, how I love the ocean. That must be why I'm moving to Ottawa. Right.
But there are so many fun things to look forward to! Sunday-Wednesday my dad and I are heading up to the cottage and to scope out houses in Ottawa. Then I do more government elections work =$for me. After that, Hawaii 5-0. Then b's wedding, then moving to Ottawa. And hopefully Meg can stay with me in August so I won't be lonely until Andrea comes in September. So much for the summer, but it'll be a partay from start to finish!

Muffins

My dad made these really tasty muffins that have mulberries, rhubarb, dried apricots, dried cranberries and other stuff in them. They are so darn tasty! Yay muffins.
